Conditional Sentence type 2


Using if: Contrary to the fact

 If is often used to talk about situations that are contrary to the fact
  When you imagine something like this you use if+ V2, but the meaning is not past
  the form of if clause:
 1.  if+ S+V2……, s + would + V1
  2.  S+ would +V1…… If + s + V2…….
If clause consits of two sentences:
  if clause and main cluse
Be used in main clause is”be”
Be used in if clause is”were”

Exercise 1: complete the sentences with the words in brackets

1.Jim doesn't study hard. If he (study)-------- harder, He (get)------- better grades

2.If money(grow)_____ on trees, all of us(be)____ rich

3.Life(be)_____ boring if everyone (have)____ the same opinions about everything
